Day 2 : Antananarivo > Andasibe

After breakfast, our first stop is the Pereyras reserve. This farm breeds butterflies, but is also home to chameleons, frogs, snakes and bats. Continuation to Andasibe Park. The thick rainforests of this park are filled with the hooting, grunting and groaning of 11 different species of lemur, including the legendary Indri. Most lemurs are so accustomed to human visitors that they take the trouble to recognize them when they approach. This UNESCO protected area comprises two separate parks. On arrival, we'll check into our hotel. We'll head off to a local community reserve for an evening walk to spot the animals active at night.

The first entrance from the main road, close to the park entrance. Around 30 bungalows, some with shared sanitary facilities and others with private sanitary facilities. Chalet for seven people also available. All suitably aligned in a very attractive setting, in the middle of the forest, as close to nature as possible. Competitive prices. Day 4 : Andasibe > Tana

After breakfast, return to Tana. On arrival, you'll take a city tour. Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, is the largest city on this large Indian Ocean island. Antananarivo means "City of a Thousand", in reference to the 1,000 soldiers who are said to have protected the newly founded city under the reign of the revered King Andrianjaka in 1610. Today, Antananarivo is briefly known as Tana, a local name. Check-in at your hotel.

Day 6 : Antsirabe > Ranomafana

Breakfast, we stay on the National Road 7 and continue southward. We explore the city of Antsirabe by rickshaw. It's a fantastic way to experience the city and soak up its unique atmosphere. You can visit historical buildings, local markets, and charming colonial architecture, or places like Independence Square, a central square surrounded by cafes and shops. We shop in Ambositra and visit the workshop of Zafimaniry artisans, trying to find carefully crafted carved woods or marquetry boxes. We then head towards Ranomafana; we are in the heart of the Betsileo tribe region. We are in the highest part of the Madagascar Highlands, and the road becomes increasingly winding. We turn eastward and arrive in the rainforest by late afternoon. In the evening, we await the spectacle of mouse lemurs, and after observing them leap and move for a few minutes, we walk along the road in search of other nocturnal animals: chameleons, frogs, birds...

Then, we'll explore the private park of Anja managed by the village community. Continuing our journey, we head to Vohitsaoka and then take the track to the village of Tsaranoro. This beautiful valley lies behind the Andringitra massif. We'll spend the night at the hotel.

We cross Madagascar's largest plateau, characterized by a beautiful grassy steppe adorned with huge termite mounds: the Ihorombe. We arrive at the village of Ranohira, near the Isalo massif, and enjoy a sunset at the Window of Isalo. Upon arrival, we check into the hotel.

After breakfast, we depart from our hotel and head south, passing through the remarkable village of Ilakaka. This village witnessed a sapphire rush that attracted over 100,000 people in the early 2000s. Today, the excitement has subsided. We visit the Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, which protects one of the last dense dry forests in southern Madagascar, an oasis of lush foliage amidst a semi-arid, barren landscape. The park's 36,300 hectares are home to approximately 72 bird species and eight lemur species. We then continue our journey southwest, passing through Toliara (Tuléar) with a stop for a city tour. Afterwards, we transfer to the fishing village of Ifaty, an ideal location for diving and relaxation. Upon arrival, we visit the Reniala Reserve, a private reserve located by the sea and home to approximately sixty bird species. Overnight at the hotel.

Its behavior is fascinating, and the guide will tell you all about it. Many other species live here, such as the Grey Hapalemur, the Woolly Avahi and others... The flora is also very interesting, with several species of medicinal plants. After lunch, visit the "crocodile park", where you can get up close and personal with crocodiles, and the "lemur island", where you can observe lemurs in their natural habitat. Return to hotel.

A short drive to the entrance of Isalo. We start the walk leisurely with a small backpack, through an impressive landscape of canyons, natural pools, and magical rock formations. The Isalo Massif is a continental sandstone plateau dating back to the Jurassic era. Many different rock formations can be found here. Nature has adapted to the dry climate. This park has a unique ecosystem, with endemic cliff flora such as aloe, euphorbia, pachypodium, and kalanchoe. We'll have a picnic in the Tapia forest. Several walks are possible in the surroundings, and climbing to the summits offers a splendid view. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, we depart from our hotel and head south, passing through the remarkable village of Ilakaka. This village witnessed a sapphire rush that attracted over 100,000 people in the early 2000s. Today, the excitement has subsided. We visit the Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, which protects one of the last dense dry forests in southern Madagascar, an oasis of lush foliage amidst a semi-arid, barren landscape. The park's 36,300 hectares are home to approximately 72 bird species and eight lemur species. We then continue our journey southwest, passing through Toliara (Tuléar) with a stop for a city tour. Afterwards, we transfer to the fishing village of Ifaty, an ideal location for diving and relaxation. Upon arrival, we visit the Reniala Reserve, a private reserve located by the sea and home to approximately sixty bird species. Overnight at the hotel.
