The Makay is a massive ruiniform dating from the Jurassic erea, which is located in the Center-West of Madagascar, with an area of 150 x 50KM2
It is separated from Isalo by the Mangoky river, and situated in the Beroroho region (South-East) and in the North-West by the Mandabe region.

After a good night and a hearty breakfast, we begin our journey to the South of Madagascar. We follow National Route 7 to Ambositra our first stop.
Ambositra is an handcraft village recognized by its wooden sculptures and inlays.

Breakfast then we continue further the south to Ambalavao. We pass to Fianarantsoa, the main town of the Betsileo Ethnic. On our return, we will still have the opportunity to visit the city. We continue to the village of Ambalavao.

After breakfast, we are going to visit the Anja reserve. We will get to know with the CATTA Lemurs. Then we  continue our road to the village of Ranohira.

Departure from Ranohira very early in the morning for the North by lodging the massif of Isalo, up to the river of Mangoky 165km of poorly developed track, approximately 6 hours of road; passing through the savannah dotted with small baobab;

Crossing the Mangoky river by motorized ferry to reach Beroroho, capital of the region of the last civilization before attacking the wild world;
Quick lunch, and then continue  to the North  , about 65km of track to reach the village of Beronono, where we meet the team of porters and installation in bivouac by the Makay river

Beginning of the trek in the makay in total immersion for 4 days in the massif; very little known and very little surveyed, a real sanctuary for flora and fauna that have not yet revealed all their secrets.
Departure for the Mahatiny carve to discover carve painting and continuation towards the summit of this eroded massif made up of yellowish and red ruiniform sandstones and covered for the most part with dry vegetation;

Departure after breakfast, to discover the narrow canyon of Ambinanitelo,  then continuation to the summit to discover the ridge and the plateau of this massif, view of the lakes of Nosilahy

Full day on Canyons
We cross the canyon gorges of Nosilahy where crystal clear water flows, then follow streams collected at the bottom of canyons which can extend several hundred meters high, which shelter wet vegetation. Water is omnipresent in this canyons, view of the Behetaheta forest and continue to the second Sakamanitra canyon.

Visit lake Sariaka and trek to the summit, for an impressive view of two lakes Sariaka and Nosilahy and return to the village of Beronono.

We leave behind us the small village of Beroroha and the adventure of Makay. We leave the village in the direction of Ranohira.

After a night of rest, we hit the road for the Highlands. Arrival in Fianarantsoa a short tour of the upper town is essential before settling in at the hotel

Breakfast, then drive to Antsirabe. We will return to Ambositra and we can buy some souvenirs. We continue to Antsirabe. City tour and workshops of manufacturers of horns and miniature cars.

Before leaving to Antananarivo, we will do a city tour by rickshaw.
Arriving in Antananarivo, we settle in at the hotel and to finish off this great discovery in style we are going to make a sunset cocktail.

With our historian guide, we visit the upper town of Antananarivo which contains the history of the MERINA kingdom.
In the afternoon visit to the handcraft market of  “ digue”, in the late afternoon, we head towards the airport. Before taking the plane we will make a day-use to change and refresh. Early evening transfer to the airport, international flight.
